Bye-Bye! Madame Tussauds Issues Drastic Response To Meghan And Harry Stepping Down As Senior Royals

The Sussexes started this year with a bombshell. On January 8, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they will be stepping down as senior royals.

And the chaos ensued.

How did the world react to M & H’s announcement?

Well, everyone reacted pretty much the way you’d expect. There’s confusion, rage, resentment, humor, and all other things.

In order to spare you all the negativity that rained on the royal couple (do we still call them royals?.. probably, we’re going to anyway), we’ve prepared a brief breakdown of the most worthwhile reactions to their decision:

  • The Queen. Her Majesty was not happy, at least that’s what experts say. Royal analyst Victoria Arbiter goes as far as to say Queen Elizabethh II had no idea Harry and Meghan would step down;
  • Prince Charles and Prince William. "The Prince of Wales and Duke of Cambridge are incandescent with rage," said a senior source to The Sun. This should be enough.
  • The Palace. The official statement was brief and disapproving: "We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."
  • Pierce Morgan. The famous host and famous anti-Meghanist is openly upset believes this move breaks the royal family.
  • Other celebrities. Many famous people (not everyone though) are happy for Meghan and Harry and look forward to seeing the couple happy and do their own thing.

There was, however, one more reaction that stood out to thousands online and stirred up a lot of controversy.

Madame Tussauds drops the hammer

Madame Tussauds museum in London didn’t wait long until they gave Meghan Markle and Prince Harry what they asked for – a separation from the royal family.

The museum moved the couple’s waxworks away from the Queen, Prince Philip, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and others, less than a day after the bombshell announcement.

Steve Davies, the General Manager of the Madame Tussauds London branch, addressed their decision in a statement:

Alongside the rest of the world we are reacting to the surprising news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be stepping back as senior Royals. From today, Meghan and Harry’s figures will no longer appear in our Royal Family set. As two of our most popular and well-loved figures they will of course remain an important feature at Madame Tussauds London as we watch to see what the next chapter holds for the them.

People online have a lot of strong opinions

Many Twitter users were furious with the museum’s decision and believe they acted repulsively petty.

Some, however, think Tussauds just found perfect excuse for a publicity stunt.

Those, who suggest this was done for publicity, might have a point, everyone is talking about the museum and it might increase the number of visitors. In any case, they’re just one of the very many that offer their opinion on Meghan and Harry’s drastic announcement.

What do you think about Madam Tussauds move? Was it done in haste or are they just making sure their displays are up-to-date?
