The day was full of surprises and joyous moments that are now part of the royal weddings history. While it may not be as pompous as Kate and William’s nuptials, the ceremony was very moving and quite groundbreaking. With its black pastor, a gospel choir, and the fact that Meghan walked herself almost the whole way down the aisle – it was an event to remember.

We can safely say that it has been quite a turbulent time for both families. While Meghan’s father didn’t attend the special day due to his health issues, her mother was there to accompany her.

During the touching ceremony, Doria Ragland could barely hold back her tears, watching her only daughter getting married into the royal family.

She was trying so hard not to cry!

Doria flew to the UK last minute and traveled with Meghan in the car to the chapel.

After accompanying her daughter, Ragland was seated on her own at the end of the bench, which the social media thought was an odd decision and even caused outrage.

Did Meghan’s Mum not get a plus one invitation? It’s awkward enough rocking up at a wedding not knowing a single person, let alone when 1.9 billion people are watching you. She is the bravest and most composed women of all time #RoyalWedding

Why is Meghan Markle’s Mum sat on her own? Couldn’t they have put the Queen with her? She looks more lonely than the remaining cast of Avengers 4. #RoyalWedding

I just wanna sit next to Meghan’s mum. I hate that she’s sitting by herself #royalwedding

Diana wouldn’t have let Meghan’s mum sit on the other side on her own. Just saying #royalwedding

Meghan’s mum is my super hero. Whenever I feel scared about something, I am going to remember that woman sat in that ceremony on her own. Now, THAT is backbone.

Even though she was sitting there alone, Ragland was seen smiling throughout the ceremony, when she witnessed her daughter becoming the part of one of the most famous families in the world.

After the ceremony, the happy couple took part in a carriage procession, which started its journey from St. George’s Chapel, through Windsor town, before returning to Windsor Castle via the Long Walk.
