Postpartum depression is something many moms go through. Society has successfully created this image of motherhood that’s all sunshine and roses. But this isn’t the story for every mom out there. There are those who struggle to get through on a daily basis.
According to MayoClinic, postpartum depression can manifest itself in such symptoms as mood swings, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and crying spells. Usually, this can occur shortly after childbirth. But one mom is opening up about feeling all this, two years into being a mom.

A mother cries out for help
A mom shared a heartbreaking post on Reddit about how tough motherhood has been for her.
She began her post by expressing how much she "hates" motherhood and that she never wanted to have kids. She, however, got pregnant at the age of 18 and has "never been so miserable."

The poster clarified that she doesn’t hate her child but being a mother has been taking its toll.
My son didn’t sleep through the night until 11months old. I never sleep trained. I accepted the 3 hours of broken sleep a night, every night. Cried every day, every night. Living 800+ miles away from family and friends, dealt with it on my own while my husband works.

The mother also added that her marriage has fallen apart since the baby arrived and she’s constantly in a state of stress and anxiety. Even though her son is now 2 and a half years old, things haven’t gotten better.
She praised her son for being well-behaved and smart but all these aren’t helping her feel better.
I just hate being a slave to another human being. I know it’s not his fault but this is torture. TORTURE.

The mother expressed that she feels stuck and that being a mother was "one of the worst things" to have happened to her.

Yes your mental and physical health is important and you shouldn’t feel obligated to take care of your son 100% of the time. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Tell your husband you need time and let him watch your son for a bit while you sleep! Or if he isn’t compliant reach out to friends and family. Even if they are far I’m sure just talking to another adult can be so helpful. There are ways to find affordable counseling and doctors to help with the panic attacks and depression. You are strong!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. As a mom, I know the stress is ROUGH. Have you thought about going back to work, if you can? Even on a part-time basis? Some time to yourself to embrace your own needs would likely do wonders. Sometimes you need time to yourself to be happy, and therefore be the best version of yourself for your kid.

Some people aren’t meant to be parents. Unfortunately, some people don’t realize this until it’s too late. My grandmother was the same way, she grew up in time where she was expected to have kids, but she really shouldn’t have. The only condolence I can offer is that if you raise your kid right, it’ll get a lot easier when they’re older.
